COMMANDERS LETTER

Thanks for logging onto our website. It is a handy way to learn what kinds of boating education events are going on in our community and on-line.

My name is Peter Ladouceur and I am the Commander, of the Nanoose Power and Sail Squadron.

We do a number of things well here, such as teaching  the ROC(M) course so people can use their VHF radio on their boat and holding speaker events/informal seminars on topics of local interest, such as “Fishing Smarter with Electronics” or “Electronic Navigation tips and tricks”. We also run social events where members can get together and enjoy our island lifestyle.

Our Squadron is part of a bigger group, now called CanBoat, Canada’s leading boating education group. CanBoat has excellent quality education available on-line and in person on topics as diverse as weather, how to read charts, how to navigate passages, even how to navigate when your electronics are not available.

So have a look. If you have questions or concerns, reach out to us (my email is below). You will find me down at the docks in Fairwinds Marina, by the fish cleaning table if the day was good, or out sailing.
